How to Improve Concentration ??!!

Mental - How to Improve Concentration - man reading sleep

With a host of distractions present, concentrating on tasks at hand becomes difficult.
This article will guide you on how you can improve your concentration skills.

1. Eliminate Distractions
The key element in improving your concentration lies in identifying your distractions and doing away with them, for good. The constant desire to check your email or answer texts is a deterrent to work. Abstain from checking your email frequently and let your answering machine pick up your calls. Allowing personal thoughts to interfere with work is also a detriment. If allowed to run rampant, your personal feelings will only hinder your ability to focus. If a constant reminder keeps popping into your head, make a note of it and stop thinking about it.

2. Plan to Concentrate
Your level of interest in the job is a contributing factor to concentrating properly. Tedious tasks tend to make one’s concentration wane. Inspiring a level of interest in the job will instantly help you regain your focus and work better. Constant self-motivation is the key to keep yourself hooked.

3. Prioritise
Massive workloads tends to inspire procrastination. Scheduling your tasks, instead, will help you focus better. Always group difficult tasks with simpler ones, to avoid fatigue and procrastination. Time your work so that wasteful efforts are minimized. By breaking down your workload into manageable parts, you will be able to concentrate better and accomplish tasks much faster. Plan your breaks accordingly, to relieve yourself of work-related pressures. Having to do the same tasks over and over, can lead to procrastination. Vary your tasks frequently, to keep monotony from sinking in.

4. Concentration Exercises
One can also attempt at regaining their focus by practicing the following exercises. These exercises improve mind-body coordination, isolate thoughts and help you focus better.

a. The Dot Trick
Take a piece of paper and draw a dot on its surface. Then stick the paper on the wall and stare at it. This will seem silly initially, but with repeated practice your mind will be able to isolate the dot, and banish additional distractions effectively.

b. The Water Trick
People lacking concentration tend to fidget a lot. This exercise will help resuscitate the dormant mind-body coordination. Fill up a glass with water and place it in the palm of your hands. Stare at the ripples forming at the surface. Try to keep your palm as steady as you can, till the surface becomes completely calm.

By following the above mentioned steps, you will be able to regain your concentration and work better.
