How To Make My Parents Proud Of Me ??!!

How To Make My Parents Proud Of Me ,happy family on the beach walking

A lot of kids start to feel like misfits in their own homes and families when they become adolescents. As they grow up and start to make their own career choices, personal choices and other private decisions, they are constantly facing a clash with the ideals of their parents. This often leads to arguments and they feel that their parents don’t get them or understand them well.

While parents are only trying to set rules for their kids in order to bring discipline in their lives and control their bad habits, kids often don’t understand that view of things and feel that they are constantly doing acts that are disappointing their parents. Needless to say, you feel bad too after having heated arguments with your parents. So how do you make sure that you get what you want but still don’t disappoint your parents and make them proud of you?

It’s actually not that difficult. Here are few simple steps to help you with it.

1. Don’t Answer Back
Whenever there is an argument or fight happening between you and your parents, in the heat of the moment it always seems easy to answer back and make your point clear. However, while you may walk out of the room by saying the last word and slamming the door behind you, your parents might feel shaken and disappointed. Don’t hurt them like that. Always try to stay calm, and have a respectful tone towards them. Even if you are right in what you are saying, wait for the right moment to arrive when you speak to them, rather than impulsively shouting or snapping at them.

2. Accomplish Your Goals
Believe in your dreams and prove a point. Sometimes, parents may not be supportive of your choices or tastes. Understand their priorities and then follow your choices alongside. Do it so passionately and nicely that they see the amount of dedication and effort you are putting in, and finally let you do what you want. This is especially common when making career or education choices. Understand what they expect out of you, fulfill that, and then go ahead and do other things. That way, they’ll be very happy seeing you accomplish your goals in life.

3. Fulfill Their Dreams
Parents have few dreams and expectations out of their kids. Some may have spent all their money in trying to raise you, giving up on their comforts and luxuries of travelling abroad or buying a bigger house. When you have reached a decent stage in your life where you are doing well, fulfill their dreams too to make them happy and proud. After all, you wouldn’t have been where you are, had it not been for them.

4. Consider Their Opinions Always
When taking major life decisions, always take their opinions. You may not necessarily agree with their thoughts, but just the fact that you are at least giving them the honor of presenting their opinions in front of you means a lot to them. Moreover, taking their opinions means that you have one more dimension and perspective to look at on various things, and that’s always helpful to take proper decisions. So while you may want to lead an individual life with your own rules, consider their opinions once in a while for the sake of their experience and expertise on certain aspects of life.

5. Respect Them
Don’t think of them as people beneath you. Some parents are slightly conservative and old-fashioned, but that doesn’t mean that they are bad people. They have, at the end of the day, given birth to you and done everything possible to bring you up. The least you can do in return is to respect them, speak nicely to them, take care of them, and give them the feeling that they are important to you, and not just a piece of furniture in your life.

So you see, it’s actually not that difficult to do things that make your parents proud of you. It’s all about being a good human being and taking care of them. It’s about giving back to them what they have given you for all these years – love, comfort, affection, a sense of belongingness and so much more.
