1. Jala Neti
This is an Ayurvedic ruse used by sages and yogis from the Puranic times. This cure stems from the fact that most sore throats are a result of nasal phlegm accumulation and dryness. This yogic technique involves pouring saline water from a special jug, into your nose in such a way that it enters from one nostril and exits from the other, having cleared your nasal passage on the way. Successive repetitions of this procedure have produced excellent results. 2. Salt Water Gargle
This is an age-old method that has had maximum success rate. Not only is this an inexpensive method, but is also exceptionally helpful in cutting through phlegm and reducing inflammation. To do this properly, put a pinch of salt into a glass of warm water and use the dissolved solution to gargle frequently. The warm water will help to soothe the inflammation and the salt solution will clear infections.


3. Lemon and Honey Tincture
The herbal properties of honey and lemon have multifarious uses. They can be effectively used to cure sore throats as well. To partake of their benefits, mix a tablespoon of honey and lemon juice in a cup of warm water and drink the solution slowly. Every sip of the tincture will help soothe the soreness, reduce inflammation, treat the infection and provide the much-needed relief to your throat.


4. Inhale Steam
Inhaling steam has its inherent medicinal value. Boil water in a large container and pour a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Place your face above the container and cover your head with a towel. Inhaling the steam will help unclog your nasal chambers and reduce the phlegm accumulation. Steaming has been a proven method to reduce sore throats.


5. Hydrate Yourself
Drinking lots of fluid during ailments have been one of the most effective treatments that people resort to. A well-hydrated system not only battles inflammation and infection, it also regulates body temperature to prevent the occurrence of fevers. In this regard, keeping your throat moist with hot tea and other soothing beverages will help clear up the cold faster. Drink lots of water, have fruit juices and plenty of soups to help you recover faster.
