Sick of doing the same old stuff with your guy? Is Netflix and chill boring you half to death? Here are some new & fun things to do with your boyfriend!
Getting to the point in your relationship where things are easy and
you have a routine going is a great thing. It means you two have spent
enough time together to get past that initial honeymoon phase and are
settling down into your lives together.
But the one thing that just plain sucks about this is that you
probably do the same things time and time again. You go to the same
restaurant to eat, come home and watch Netflix, and then go to bed.
While this can be relaxing, it’s not very fun or exciting.
Introducing fun back into the relationship
After a while, you may begin to feel like there’s something missing
in your relationship. Like things just aren’t the same as they used to
be. This could lead to the dreaded relationship rut. Wouldn’t you like
to avoid getting stuck in one of those?
It’s scientifically proven that when a couple engages in a new,
exciting activity together, that experience can foster positive feelings
for the relationship and can make both parties feel closer to one
another. These are both crucial for a lasting and loving relationship.
If you’re feeling like your relationship needs a pick-me-up or if
you’re just surfing the web for some fun date ideas, here are some new
things you can do with your boyfriend that will excite you both again
and add that extra spark you’ve been missing.
#1 Trivia night. Most local bars or eateries host
trivia nights on occasion—usually on a weekly basis. If your usual
dinner is getting too boring, go for one of those and see how terrible
or great you both are at random trivia. The competitive nature of the
game will bring a new edge to your relationship.
#2 Laser tag. What’s not fun and exciting about
running around trying to “shoot” your significant other? Stay on
opposite teams to make the night even more fun.
#3 Trampoline world. Have you ever heard of a
building that is filled with trampolines? These have been popping up in
cities all across the country, and they allow you to just jump away
through the entire place on trampolines for a small price.
#4 Picnic. If the weather is nice, pack a picnic and
head out for the afternoon. It’s way more fun than sitting inside
eating food, and you’ll probably find more things to talk about while
being outdoors.
#5 Camping. Get out of the house for a few days and
be one with nature for a little while. Even better yet, leave your
phones in the car for the night and listen to all the sounds of nature
while you snuggle with your honey.
#6 Prank a friend. Think of a mutual friend you have
and devise a sneaky plan to prank them. You’ll have a ridiculous amount
of fun being evil together.
#7 Host a barbeque… and have a water balloon fight!
But don’t tell anyone about it. Make sure you have a “no cell phone”
rule in effect during the party and keep all the guests’ phones in a
bucket. Then you and your boyfriend can start attacking everyone with
water balloons and watch as the fun unfolds.
#8 Go canoeing and bring snacks and wine. If there’s
a nearby river or lake, rent a canoe and spend a few hours on the
water. Snacks and wine will make the evening that much more romantic,
too.
#9 Visit a local museum. You can learn an awful lot
about any town or location by visiting a museum. You can have a nice
evening together while learning something at the same time.
#10 Try a Pinterest project and post your failure! Let’s
be honest, most Pinterest projects end in disaster. What could be more
fun and funny than spending an afternoon accomplishing something, even
if it doesn’t exactly turn out the way you’d planned? If it does work
out, you have something new for your place. If it doesn’t, it’s still a
fun story and an even funnier picture.
#11 Go to a concert. Even if it’s just a local
group, go listen! You’ll end up dancing the night away in no time. And
who knows, you may even find your new favorite band.
#12 Play some video games. A fun racing game like Mario Kart is enough to get the competitiveness going and keep the night entertaining.
#13 Have a goofy photo shoot. Have a friend who has a camera come over and dress each other up in goofy outfits for a fun, memorable photo shoot.
#14 Finger paint together. Pick an object to focus on and paint away, but only use your fingers! Whoever’s is the best wins.
#15 Make some mad libs! Look up some mad lib
templates and let each other pick out words to fill in the blanks. Your
stomach will be sore from laughing before the night’s over.
#16 Go to an amusement park. If there’s a park near you, go have some adrenaline-filled fun! Order a funnel cake and see who can eat it the fastest.
#17 Go ice skating. That is, if both of you can
actually skate. Or even if you can’t, this could be a chance to learn
something new together!
#18 Go to the zoo. Who says the zoo is for little kids? Go enjoy the monkeys, food, and fun.
#19 Make a blanket fort. If you want to spice up
your usual movie night, make a blanket fort together and watch movies
under it. You can even make a bunch of snacks from your childhood and
reminisce about the good old times.
#20 Play in the snow. If you’re stuck in the winter
blues, head outside and play in the snow! Have a snowman-making
competition or even a snowball fight. You can even enjoy a long, hot
bubble bath together afterwards.
#21 Play a game of ping pong… with high stakes. Set the rules and a prize and play away! You could even make the loser your slave for a week.
#22 People-watch. This is my personal favorite. Pick
a bench somewhere that’s really populated and watch the people who walk
by. Make up different scenarios and be their voices.
#23 Play strip poker. This says enough for itself. Strip down, and I think we both know where the evening will go.
#24 Take a cooking class together. There are a lot
of places that offer cooking classes to the public. Sign up and get
cooking. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn something valuable.
#25 Go sing karaoke and sing a cheesy love song. My personal favorite is almost any duet from Grease. A couple of drinks beforehand will make things much easier.
#26 Go on a scavenger hunt. Have each other make a
map of clues and riddles and have a prize waiting at the end. It could
be anything from a free massage from you to a gift card to their
favorite store.
#27 Make bucket lists. I think most people have a
mental bucket list of things they want to accomplish before they die,
but have you ever written them down? Make a physical list and read them
to each other. You’ll not only learn more about your partner, but now
you’ll be able to help each other cross stuff off, too.
#28 Get a psychic reading together. If there are any
psychics in your area, go spend a few bucks and hear what they have to
say. Even if you don’t believe in it, it’ll make for a great story.
#29 Dress each other up and go out for dessert and coffee only.
I’m always curious as to what my boyfriend would choose to dress me up
in if he had the choice. Dress each other up in what you think they look
best in and head out for some fancy dessert and coffee—a twist on your
typical date night.
#30 Make an at-home spa day. Bring out the candles
and scented oils, turn down the lights, and put on some soothing music.
Have a spa day where each of you gives the other a nice full-body
massage.
Being in a long-term relationship doesn’t have to mean that
you’ll run out of fun things to do. These 30 ideas are just the
beginning of all the amazing things you and your boyfriend can do
together.
