Skincare: Homemade Scrubs for Glowing Skin

You may have already sampled cosmetic scrubs from your local beauty store, but have you ever considered making your own scrubs with natural ingredients found in your own kitchen? Homemade scrubs are chemical-free and cost efficient and most of all they are easy to make and can give you glowing skin.

Here are a few natural homemade scrubs you can try this season to get that youthful glow.

Sugar Scrub: This is one of the easiest scrubs to make and yet it is very effective. Take brown or white sugar and mix it with olive or coconut oil. This mixture has to be in the ratio of 2:1, which means you add two spoons of sugar for every spoonful of oil.  Now rub the scrub on your face, making sure you pay special attention to the dry areas. Once you thoroughly scrub your face, use a wet cloth to remove the scrub and then splash your face with cold water. Such oil based scrubs are good for people with dry skin as it leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.

Brown sugar, avocado oil and cucumber scrub: This scrub is ideal for people with sensitive skin. Mix together brown sugar with avacado oil in the ratio of 2:1 and then add in a small cucumber to this mixture. Scrub your face gently with this mixture and leave it on for five minutes. When you’re done, you will have glowing and soft skin.

Lemon juice and sea salt scrub: Lemon has a medium level of acidity, which helps when dealing with oily skin. It also helps in reducing skin blemishes and so using a lemon face scrub is perfect for people with oily skin. Mix one spoon of lemon juice with one spoon of sea salt and apply it to your face. Gently massage your face for five minutes and then rinse it off. Continue this routine twice a week for a few weeks and notice the glow on your face.
