What is Fast Food ??

What is Fast Food - Burger - McDonalds

There is a very ready definition for the term fast food and simply put, it is the category of food that can be cooked and served in absolutely no time.

This is a variety of food that is meant for the urban people of today, who have no time to cook, nurture an inclination for good taste, need quick energizers and well, like ready-to-eat food. So, what exactly is fast food? Let’s take a look.

If you have not yet had a bite of this, you probably are from Terabithia. Thanks to McDonalds, burgers have become a household name. Essentially consisting of a deep fried patty sandwiched between two soft buns, most burgers are also spiced up with fresh tomato, onion and lettuce.

French Fries
The health-conscious like to evade this one, but it is still extremely tempting. The simplest of the variety, quick to prepare, meets the calorie need and tastes good. Fact to be noted: it has no real French connection.

This is for people with a spicy palate. Taco is essentially a flattened wheat tortilla with a choice of filling ranging from pork, chicken, beef, veggies and cheese, served along with salsa sauce.

Steamed or fried, these small wraps of minced delicacy are the closest to a healthy snacker’s heart. You won’t miss out on the popularity quotient as they are commonly known as ‘momos’ and are a quick grab with spicy chilly chutney.

It would be the most recreational of the category of fast foods. With its Mexican origin, a burrito is a plain wheat tortilla that closely wraps in ingredients like spiced rice, fried beans and meat fillings.

There is something for which you can thank God for and pasta is one of them. The variety of pasta differs on their shapes and the way of preparation. Originally Italian, the spicy mix of pasta is now a common sight on fast food platters.

Circle has nothing to do with it but it is still the popular shape of pizza found everywhere. A crusty bread-base layered with tomato ketchup, cheese and vegetarian or non-vegetarian toppings makes for a good hunger kill.

The creamy syrupy layer over a soft round ring of bread defines the ideal doughnut for you. A bite of it with a mug of coffee makes for a perfect start to a lazy morning.

That sounds lavish but it’s nothing but an in-your-refrigerator sandwich and comes very handy on a rush day. Layered with fresh green veggies, a dash of salami and a slice of cheese, this can keep you going for a few hours until lunch.

This is a name that is still catching on and is a definite sugar delight. For people who have that early morning craving for extra sweetness, a twizzle makes the day. These would be marshmallows put on a stick, dipped in chocolate sauce and coated with sugary crumbs.

If this list has already sent you slurping to your closest fast food joint, may God save you! The above list is only partial, yet can save you from a case of hunger pangs.
