How To Prevent Liver Disease ??!!

How To Prevent Liver Disease ??!!

It’s not just about limiting alcohol and cigarettes but about a robust health. Admit it! Many of you would never care even a bit about the health of your liver until the signs start showing.

If you were concerned, you would not let that extra inch sit restfully on your belly. The first sign of a disturbed liver is a swollen abdomen. If you think you have been eating well and exercising, yet gaining weight particularly around the abdomen, you need to call the doctor. Here are a few tips that will keep your robust organ in pink of health:

What to Avoid ??!!

1. Fatty Foods
No excuses for this one, just chuck the junk and the fatty food. It’s just not good for your liver. Too much cholesterol in your system will interrupt the normal functioning of your liver in some way or the other.

2. Excess Booze
We all are aware of the havoc that alcohol plays with the liver. A cautious drinker will restrain from consuming more than 3 to 4 pegs a day (that’s the upper limit). If you find it difficult to back, seek your doctor’s help.

3. Smoking
No matter how much you are warned against it you just can’t kick away the habit of smoking. The addiction develops easily and ends up eating your organs. So why let it invade your life in the first place?

4. Laziness
You are becoming a magnet for diseases by being a couch potato. A liver disease is definitely knocking on your door if you can be counted amongst those who prefer taking the car to walking to go to the local market.

5. Fad Diets
While you may not have gained any muscle by following a fad diet, your liver will surely be a victim of a fad diet. An Atkins or any other diet for that matter exerts unnecessary stress on the liver, disrupting its functioning.

What Will Help
While guarding against liver disease does not completely rest in your hands, it is not completely an out-of-hand situation either. A healthy diet and an active lifestyle are the key to a long life (T&C apply!) As far as the liver is concerned, timely vaccinations against Hepatitis, regular blood tests, consumption of cod liver oil and safe sex, will be some helpful preventive measures.
