How to Make this Diwali Calorie Free ??!!

Diwali  is that time of the year when most of you have your diet taking a backseat. Loved ones feed you with various types of mithai and fried snacks and your house becomes a storehouse of mithai and chocolate dabbas.

Let us look at ways to make your Diwali a calorie free one.

1. Quantity
The joyful feeling that spreads in the air during Diwali makes you forget the quantity of food in general and sweets in particular. It is important that you keep a watch on the amount of calories  you are consuming so that you do not go overboard.

2. Substitutes
Using low fat milk and curd to prepare sweets for the festival could be a good way to reduce the intake of calories. The market is loaded with delicious options for ‘diet mithais’ so that you are not deprived of the fun for the festive season.

3. Quality
The quality of sweets that you consume must be given utmost importance. Food deep fried in oil and soaked in ghee must certainly be kept away. Eat sandesh or low fat yogurt to satisfy your taste buds and avoid all the fatty stuff this Diwali.

4. Distribute Sweets
Sometimes just looking at the pile of sweet boxes tempts you to open one and grab it quickly. Distributing the extra sweet boxes amongst friends and family can be a brilliant idea to keep those calories at bay.

5. Exercise
Burning the calories that you have consumed each day is a must during the festive season. Do not skip your regular exercise  routine and if possible you can add a couple of extra minutes to compensate for the fatty food you would be consuming.

6. Water
Drinking water after every short interval can be the apt way to trick your system. Sipping water can give you a feeling of being full and will avert the chances of over eating during Diwali.

7. Speed
Eating your snacks and sweets slowly without gulping them in a hurry can save you from excess calorie intake. Conversations with friends while you are enjoying those sweets can also control the intake of the same.

Celebrating the fête and the yummy food that is a part of your diet during these special days must be done watchfully.
