1. Load up on Caffeine
Well, coffee works. So, if it is a Frappe, Cappuccino, Latte, Black, Irish and even decaf, go for it. You have heard of beer mugs; keep one handy for your coffee as well. The daily dose of this drink will keep you running for hours, without the inclination to sleep.
2. Sugar Kick
The ancients knew it better. No wonder breakfast, the first and heaviest of the meal, has a list of sugary constituents, ranging from jaggery, marmalade, jams, juices, to sweet porridge. Sugar meets the glucose need of the body to let you have energy to stay active. Have you never noticed the jump-in-the-feet syndrome after a bar of chocolate? Try that now.
3. Steal a Little
No one would blame you for this one. Since you have not managed to have a full night’s rest, a cat’s nap would not hurt. This would just let you relax in between the hours of hard work, and revive you for further tasks at hand. The only advice: Don’t get caught in the act!
4. Sweat it Out
A jogging session in the morning or a few laps in the pool before you start the day are bound to keep you feeling energetic through the day. Exercise keeps the mind as well as body active, so make sure you begin your day with some sweating out.
5. Body Clock
It is important to know that a normal human being should have a minimum of eight hours of sleep to be back in the game. So, if you have been missing out on that, create a routine wherein you hit the bed at the right time.
6. Sleep Well
To ensure that you complete the required amount of sleep when you do sleep, a quiet and dark surrounding is a must. Sleep in darkness, if possible and switch off any sounds – television, laptop, iPod – that could cause disturbance. This will leave your body satisfied with the amount of sleep it has received.
Do not let yawns and a groggy mind take possession of your every day work life. Shake off that excessive sleepiness using some or all of the methods suggested above.
